Mobility ‘Aides’ – getting to know Daryll Raynsford

05/08/26

Every quarter, we’ll be shining the spotlight on one of the fantastic people who help make NRS-UK what it is. It’s a chance to introduce the faces behind the business, learn more about their roles, and discover a little about the person behind the hi-vis, headset, laptop or loading bay!

This time, we’re heading to Walton Summit to meet Daryll Raynsford, one of our warehouse operatives. Daryll plays a vital role in keeping everything moving behind the scenes, helping to make sure the products our customers rely on are picked, packed and dispatched on time. Put simply, without people like Daryll, the wheels of the business wouldn’t turn.

But there’s much more to Daryll than warehouse operations. Who is he when he clocks off for the day? What makes him laugh? What would his dream holiday look like? And what hidden talents might he be keeping quiet about?

To find out, we put Daryll in the hot seat and asked him the same fun set of questions that we’ll be asking all our Mobility Aides colleagues over the coming months. The result? A chance to see the whole person, not just the job title.

So, grab a brew, settle in, and get ready to learn a little more about the man behind the pallet truck. Meet Daryll!

What’s your name and where do you come from?

I’m Daryll Raynsford. Originally born in Slough, I then moved to Preston, spent some time living in Malta, and eventually made my way back to Preston.

What’s your role and what does a typical day look like?

I look after stock inventory and am also a qualified first aider and mental health first aider. No two days are ever quite the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most about the role.

How did you get to where you are?

I saw an opening at NRS-UK and decided to go for it. Before that, like many people, Covid changed the direction of my working life and ultimately led me to where I am today.

What do you like most about your role?

It takes me all over the warehouse and gives me the opportunity to help others. Being a mental health first aider, also allows me to check in with people and offer support when they need it.

What motivates you at work?

Music. Music is always the answer to this one! It’s one of the few things that’s constantly on my mind, whether it’s writing music for my band or just finding a song to sing along to.

What makes a great team in your view?

Communication. Everything works better when people talk to each other and work together.

What’s something others might not realise about your role?

From a first aider’s point of view, it’s just how rewarding it can be to help someone. I’ve seen enough blood both in and out of work to make most people’s knees shake, but it doesn’t bother me at all. Then again, I am a horror fan!

If you could swap roles for a day, what would you try?

Probably Admin or IT. I was always tech-savvy as a kid, studied Computing at school and loved learning all the secrets that the 0s and 1s have to offer.

Sum up NRS-UK in three words.

Forward. Simple. Patient.

What’s one thing people might be surprised to know about you?

I’m the metal vocalist in my band, Dreadnought—a heavy metal-infused hip-hop band. I also take part in scare acting around Halloween.

Onto the quick-fire questions…

Tea or coffee?

Coffee all the way. Death before decaf!

Early bird or night owl?

If I’m working the next day, I’m definitely an early bird. If not, then I’m a night owl.

Favourite way to spend a weekend?

Spending time with friends, enjoying cosy days at home, or making memories with my girlfriend and our cats.

What’s your favourite cheese?

Mozzarella! I’m such a fan that I’ll happily add an entire bag of shredded mozzarella to an already cheesy pizza for that extra kick.
