THIIS Feature: Seizing the opportunity

01/06/26

We’re pleased to share this editorial feature on NRS-UK, which explores our journey following our acquisition by Mobilitas Group and our continued commitment to supporting independence through innovative products and services.

The article includes insights from our Managing Director, Mark Baumann, and discusses how we’re building on our heritage while investing in the future to better serve customers, healthcare professionals and public sector partners across the UK.

With a strong heritage and clear vision, NRS-UK is focused on delivering innovative, sustainable solutions that support independence.

In August 2025, the Mobilitas Group officially acquired the Product Sales Division of Nottingham Rehab Limited (trading as NRS Healthcare) following the company’s compulsory liquidation. Mobilitas Group now operates this retail and product wing, which includes the Complete Care Shop. Now trading as NRS-UK, the firm continues to provide daily living aids and assistive technology products to people with disabilities, long-term health conditions, and special needs. It works as a strategic partner to local authorities, NHS Trusts, and public sector bodies to help people live independently at home and prevent extended hospital stays. Mark Baumann, Managing Director of NRS UK, explains about the significant advantages that have come with the new set-up…

Mobilitas Group acquired the product sales division in August 2025. How did you view the acquisition?

While it was undoubtedly disappointing to see the former NRS Healthcare service proposition for local authorities come to an end, the continuation of the product sales division ensures that NRS-UK remains firmly embedded in the sector. We continue to support customers by providing innovative community equipment, backed by expert advice on whole-life costs, recycling rates and long-term suitability. Ultimately, our focus is on enabling commissioners, carers and caregivers to access reliable products that help people live independently in their own homes.

The acquisition itself was an exciting milestone. It allowed us to retain much of the heritage and expertise from NRS Healthcare while becoming part of a larger, forward-thinking, solution-focused organisation. Importantly, the purchase of intellectual property rights ensured that the manufacture of NRS products could continue, safeguarding both jobs and knowledge.

Joining Mobilitas has given us the opportunity to focus fully on our product sales division. Being more market-driven allows us to prioritise new product development and take greater control over the effectiveness and ethical standards of our supply chain – ensuring we deliver quality and value for money to customers and communities.

We’ve also been able to leverage both our own deep market knowledge and that of the wider Mobilitas Group, opening doors to new supplier partnerships and collaboration opportunities. Crucially, we have successfully novated most of our local authority and public sector framework contracts, ensuring continuity of supply.

Early 2026 marked another milestone as we relocated to a new purpose-built headquarters in Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Designed with sustainability at its core, the facility features solar power generation and aligns with our Net Zero ambitions. It reduces our environmental impact while providing a modern, collaborative workspace for our team.

There’s also a strong sense of heritage in the new space, with meeting rooms named after both our original Nottingham roots and our new location – a nod to our past and future.

What does the product sales division portfolio include?

Our portfolio is extensive. We offer over 4,000 daily living aids across key categories including beds, mobility and access, bathing and toileting.

In addition, we have 400-plus own-brand products spanning eight different categories, giving us significant control over quality, cost, and innovation.

The acquisition also included Complete Care Shop, which now operates as a standalone business within the group under the leadership of Venessa Hodgson.

What challenges did NRS face during the acquisition?

In truth, the challenges pale in comparison to the opportunities. One of the biggest hurdles was perception. There was widespread media coverage of NRS Healthcare entering administration, but very little coverage of the acquisition and continuation of the Product Sales Division as NRS-UK. As a result, many occupational therapists, commissioners and end users were initially unaware that they could still access our products.

We also encountered some confusion around the clear separation between the Product Sales Division and the issues faced by the previous organisation and its service division.

Beyond that, there were the typical challenges associated with establishing a new company within an existing group – integrating teams, systems and processes. However, the level of support and collaboration from the Mobilitas Group has been unprecedented and has been instrumental in building strong foundations for the future. Ultimately, these challenges have all been worthwhile given where we are today.

Externally, rising global costs for raw materials and finished goods continue to present ongoing pressure. These increases impact not only our business, but also our public sector customers and retail partners. We are addressing this by reviewing the materials we use, expanding our own- brand manufacturing, and maintaining tight control over our supply chain. At the same time, we are continually seeking more efficient and cost-effective ways to operate across the business and our distribution network.

What are the main advantages of the new set-up?

The advantages are significant. We now operate as a focused, agile and customer-centric organisation dedicated solely to product sales, while delivering exceptional service through high-quality management information, reliable

delivery and clear communication. We have full control over our catalogue and new product development, while also benefiting from the infrastructure and support of the Mobilitas Group.

Mobilitas provides expertise across IT, HR, procurement, finance and compliance – support that was invaluable during the transition and continues to underpin our ongoing growth.

At the same time, we bring nearly 80 years of experience to the market, combining that strong heritage with a forward-thinking and progressive approach.

Innovation is a key priority. We currently have 119 live projects and are planning to introduce around 240 new product lines. Customers can expect a steady pipeline of innovative solutions throughout 2026, each designed to deliver real, tangible benefits to users and support their rehabilitation and independence.

Importantly, we acted quickly during the transition to maintain continuity of supply, minimising disruption for customers and avoiding the need for costly re-tendering processes. This also provided an opportunity to rationalise and strengthen our product offering, ensuring it is even more aligned with the needs of the market.

Who are the key personnel at NRS-UK, and what is the leadership focus going forward?

At NRS-UK, our strength comes from the collective expertise, commitment and care of our entire team. Every colleague plays a crucial role in our success, with the senior leadership team highlighted here as those who spearhead the initiatives and direction that drive excellence across the business.

I lead the organisation as managing director, supported by Katie Bourne, customer services manager, who ensures a consistently high standard of service for our customers and partners. Craig Ball heads up our sales function, working closely with commissioners and customers, while Olly Jaycocks leads our bid management and wider business development activity, supporting growth through public sector frameworks and strategic opportunities.

Our regional sales structure for local authority and public sector customers includes Amanda Hepburn, Alan Stokoe and Bruce Fleming, covering the south, north, and Scotland and Northern Ireland respectively. They work alongside our retail account managers, Jayne Brown and Brandon Berger, who oversee retailer relationships across the north and south, building strong, long- term partnerships throughout the UK.

Product expertise is led by Mark Wafforne, product design engineer, ensuring our solutions are safe, effective and aligned with real user needs.

Looking ahead, our leadership focus is centred on delivering innovative, high-quality products that enable people to live independently, while continuing to build and maintain the trust of the NHS, local authorities, occupational therapists and UK families. We are focused on expanding our reach so that our products are accessible to more people nationwide, while also supporting commissioners in delivering effective, value-for-money care.

Equally important is our culture. We pride ourselves on being open and transparent, with clear communication and genuine opportunities for employee input as we grow.

Our aim is to ensure every team member feels empowered, valued and aligned with our long-term direction.

How is NRS supporting its retailer network?

Supporting our retail partners is a priority. We aim to deliver products that genuinely meet user needs – filling gaps in the market, improving existing solutions, and keeping products accessible and affordable.

Each retailer is supported by a responsive account manager who can provide guidance and quickly address any queries.

We also actively seek feedback from retailers and end users to inform product development. This real-world insight is invaluable in ensuring our products are practical and effective.

In addition, we are improving packaging and product information to make it clearer and more user-friendly, particularly around safety.

We will continue to keep our network informed about new product launches and offer demonstrations. Retailers can request visits from regional account managers, and we’ll also be attending trade shows throughout the year.

“Our focus is guided by a clear set of values that shape both how we grow and how we work with partners”

What’s next for NRS-UK?

Looking ahead, our focus is guided by a clear set of values that shape both how we grow and how we work with partners. This includes ensuring everything we do continues to improve lives and support independence.

We will be looking at simplifying procurement and working collaboratively with commissioners, local authorities and partners to help them achieve their goals. At the same time we will be building new relationships and adapting with agility as the market and commissioning landscape evolves, while continually strengthening standards across our products, services and delivery.

Our ambition is to grow our footprint, making our products and services accessible to more people across the UK. This includes strengthening existing partnerships, building new relationships, and continuing to support commissioners and local authorities in delivering effective, value-for-money care.

This direction is driven by our mission: to be the trusted mobility partner for institutions and businesses supporting our communities.

We will also continue to build on our presence across key public sector frameworks, including YPO, HealthTrust Europe (HTE), NHS Shared Business Services, NHS Supply Chain, NHS Wales and other national and regional routes to market, ensuring customers can engage with NRS UK through simple, compliant and trusted procurement pathways.

With a strong heritage, a clear vision and the backing of Mobilitas, NRS-UK is well positioned to deliver innovative, sustainable solutions that support independence and wellbeing for years to come.
